Who Jesus Christ Is! Part 2

What the Jews Knew Jesus declared about Himself.

What lamb would have the Jews associated with the statement “Lamb of God” declared by John?

·       The lamb of the pass  over

·       The passover of the pass over.

*The pass over is not the passover. During the feast of the passover  the passover was eaten in celebration of the pass over.

1Cor 5:7 ¶ Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

·       The verse does not teach that Christ was our passover lamb.

·       The blood of Israel’s passover delivered them from the bondage of Egypt.

·       The blood of our passover delivered us from the bondage of sin.

In the gospel of John Jesus declared:

4:10-11, 14, He had the living water to give

·       When the LORD gave Israel water it was never a mud puddle. It was always fresh, running water or a well that would fill as fast as water was drawn from it.

·       7:38-39 identifies the living water Jesus offered is the Spirit

6:35, 51 living bread of life (6:51)

·       Mat 4:4 with Deu 8:3 the manna from heaven sustained the Israelites; the word of God prolonged their life and would have with allowed them to live safely in the land of promise.

·       Isa 3:1 The LORD controlled their stay of bread and their stay of water.

Bread: His word; Water: His spirit

·       We eat to live from day to day; the Word of God keeps us safely in the hands of God. (John 10:28-29)

·       The LORD took away His word and spirit from Israel.

·       Our “hope (earnest expectation)” The “Word” will never leave us or forsake us. The Holy Spirit of promise will never be taken away from us.

John 11:25-26 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

8:12; 9:5 with John 1:4-5 The light of the world Jesus declared that he is the Word, God.

8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am (18:6 with Ex 3:14)

·       8:59 The Jews knew Jesus declared that He is the “I Am”.

10:7, 9 The door

·       John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

·       V1 Teaching there is another way to God other than Jesus is attempting to steal someone away from God.

The good shepherd (10: 11, 14)

·       Ps 79:3, 100:3 the sheep of his pasture.

·       The good shepherd that dwelled among the people between the cherubims behind the veil in the tabernacle. John 10:11, 14 with Psalm 80:1

·       Isa 45:11; 54:5 The Maker and Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel;

10:30 Jesus declared himself to be God, one with the Father

·       8:59; 10:31, 33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

The Son of God (10:36-38)

·       Ro 1:4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

·       The resurrection declared who Jesus Christ is and proved that all he declared about himself is true.

·       1John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

John 1:41; 4:25, 11:27 Jesus Christ is the Messiah that Israel has been looking for, but has not found. (John 11:27)

·       Luke 22:67

Col 1:12-20

John 1:49 Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.

·       Heb 1:8 with Ps 45:6; Lam 5:19 declares Jesus to be the eternal King spoken of in Old Testament.
