The Resurrection of Jesus Christ Part 1

John 11:21-27

·       V22 Martha believed God could raise he brother from the dead at that moment

·       V23-24 Martha believed in the resurrection of the dead at the last day.

Ø    This event during the Old Testament times. Martha still had an Old Testament mentality. Focusing upon God or the “LORD”

Ø    Old testament you believed God accounted or imputed righteousness unto those whom He chose to through their belief. Rom 4:13-22; Hebrews 11 teaches it was by faith

·       V25-26 Jesus teaches Martha a New thing

Ø    Jesus is the resurrection and the life

Ø    You have to believe in Jesus while alive to have eternal life. Once you die it is too late to be saved.

·       There is no salvation in just believing in God. Salvation only comes through believing in Jesus Christ, while you are alive.

These verses in John 11 is Jesus’ commentary on Chapter 2:19 and Chapter 6:39

John 2:19, 21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

·       V21 The “it” spoken of in verse 19 is His body that rose from the dead. Jesus declared that he would raise from the dead, bodily.

John 6:39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

·       The “it” is His body that will be raised at the “last day”

Is Christ going to die a second time and be raised form the dead a second time? NO !!!!!

·       Rom 10:7 with Deu 30:12-13

·       So how will His body be raised again?

Ø    1Cor 12:27 ¶ Now ye (the church) are the “body of Christ”, and members in particular.

Ø    Christ declared the resurrection of His Body the Church, all who are in Christ. We will be raised bodily.

The last day – Acts 2:17 with Heb 1:2 The last days of the New Testament began with the earthly ministry Jesus Christ.

·       1Thes 4:15-17, 18;1Cor 15:52 The new testament last day is the rapture of the church, the body of Christ

Tit 3:7 How do we know we can earnestly expect (hope) that we have eternal life and this life will be with Christ our, hope of eternal life with Christ?

·       Rom 1:4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

·       Rom 4:25 Justification came to us through the resurrection Of Jesus Christ. 

Rom 6:4-5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

·       1Pet 1:1-5, 18-24

1Pet 1:25 Because the word of the Lord endureth forever. Our Salvation also endureth forever.

Because Jesus Christ rose from the dead we will too
