Adoption Part 2: The Inheritance

Ro 8:17 ¶ And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

Heb 9:15 ¶ And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

Spiritually we have inherited “in Christ”

·       The kingdom of God (John 3:3-5; 1Cor 15:50)

·       The righteousness of God (2Cor 5:21)

·       The closeness of the Father (Gal 4:6)

·       Eternal Life (1John 5:11)

·       Position: right hand of the Father in heaven (Eph 1:3, 2:6)

·       The hatred of the world (John 17:14; 2Tim 3:12;         1John 3:12)

·       The promise of the resurrection of the Son of God from the dead was passed to us. The promise of victory over death through our physical resurrection (1Cor 15:51-57; Phil 3:21)

·       His joy John 17:13, Acts 13:52; Rom 14:17

Ro 8:23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

Ro 9:4 Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;

·       Today we are the spiritual sons of God

·       We will be the adopted as physical sons of God through the resurrection or change of our bodies.

Gal 3:29a And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed. .  . 

·       We are spiritually the seed of Abraham

·       Rom 2:28-29; Rom 4:16; Gal 3:6-7

·       Gal 3:29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed and heirs according to the promise.

Rom 4:16 .  . . which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,

·       The faith of Abraham Rom 4:3, 20-22

·       Rom 4:23-25 with Rom 10:9

·       Ex 13:15 The LORD called the Israelites His children

·       Today we are the spiritual sons of God

·       Redemption came through Israel.

·       Gen 12:3; 18:18; 22:18

·       Rom 1:16, 2:9-10

The promise made to Abraham point to the kingdom of Heaven.

·       Ge 15:18 In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:

·       Isa 49:8 Thus saith the LORD, In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee: and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages;

·       Rev 21:16 The length and breath of the new Jerusalem is 1500 miles. The distance from Jerusalem to the river Euphrates if is about 750 miles

We will be physically with Christ during His 1000 year reign and throughout eternity in the New Jerusalem.

Seek ye first the kingdom of God.

We must be very clear! His is not teaching that the church has replaced Israel and the promises to Israel are now given to the church. The church will share have a part in the promise made to Abraham and His descendents but only because we have the faith of Abraham and God will keep His promise to Israel.
