Job Lesson 13: Job’s Responce 6&7 Part 2 Prov 17:17; 18:24 describes how Job expected the three men to treat him. Job felt Eliphaz and the others, who at one time called brethren and friends, treated him without pity.

6:14-20 Job Lesson 13: Job’s Responce 6&7 Part 2

·       In Vs 15b-18 speaks a stream of brooks which is only filled with water from ice and snow and than begins to dry up as the temperature begins to warn and then their water is completely consume by the hot summer heat These brooks and streams would completely vanish as if they never had water.

·       V19 Companies from the ancient nations of Tema and Sheba would wait for the time when theses brooks and streams should be filled with water before they would travel. Their hope was plenty of water to refresh them and supply them for their journey.

·       V20 But when years when these streams dried much quicker than expected these travelers were confounded when they found n

Ø    De 8:7 For the LORD thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills;

Ø    Jere 14:1-4 Judah during the 70 years of captivity under Babylon rule. (Note 14:3-4 with Job 6:19-20)

Ø    2Pet 2:10-18; Jude 12-13

·       Vs15a, 21 Job expected refreshing comfort and pity from these men but Job was confounded and ashamed by Eliphaz’s first speech. His hope in his friends was in vain.

What should our Christian family be able to expect from us?

V14b Eliphaz forsook the fear of the Almighty

·       Deserted or abandoned He must have had the fear of the Almighty at one time than abandoned it.

·       If fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom than what comes from the lack of the fear of the LORD?

·       Through the his “true” statements made about God Eliphaz showed he had a knowledge of God.

·       Eliphaz should have showed pity but he had set himself up as judge instead of the Almighty. (5:3)

·       The Almighty judged Job as perfect.

·       He forsook the fear of God by disagreeing with the Almighty. He had entered God’s domain. Only God can judge a man He calls perfect.

V21 Eliphaz, a man Job once called brother was now nothing to Job. He was no comforter, not compassionate, no brother.

·       Job saw more that just judgment and condemnation in Eliphaz’s words; he saw fear. What was Eliphaz afraid of?

Ø    Maybe getting the boils that Job had?

Ø    Did Job’s attitude surprise him so must that be became afraid of what might happen next, another wind from the wilderness like the one that killed Job’s children.

Ø    Could Eliphaz have wondered if God did this to Job, a man He called perfect, what could he do to” me”?

·       Eliphaz replaced his fear of the Almighty with fear in what he witnessed in Job.

Could it be that harsh, undue, criticizing often comes out of fear; Jealousy? Eliphaz implied Job was crafty. no man could have all that Job had without being somewhat wicked.
