Lesson 43 The Theme of the book Of Job

The LORD never mentioned Job’s suffering; in fact He told Job to get up out of the ashes. The LORD never mentioned Job’s loss of substance or the loss of his children.

The LORD never explained why!

The theme of the book Job: It’s not about the what (was lost); It’s not about the why all was lost; It’s not about the wicked

It is about the who and the who is not Job.

Read Psalm 148

Through what the LORD spoke to him out of the whirlwind Job saw that God created everything and God is in control of everything and everything is for His glory.

·       Isa 44:5-6, 24; 45:12; Rev 1:8 The LORD is Alpha and Omega and everything in between.

·       Col 1:15-19 .  .  .(18b) that in all things he might have the preeminence.  

The LORD must have preeminence in all things and in all circumstances. Job was to gird up his loins as the 1:21 man that God knew him to be and accept that the LORD was in control

Remember Isa 55:11 with Jere 29:11

v   Isa 45:23, Rom 14:11 and Phil 2:8-10 God’s expected end.

Ex 34:14 God is jealous when it comes to worship and His name.

Job went from worshipping God during the hardest of times (1:21) to believing God had become his enemy. His three men and Elihu spoke wickedly in the name of God. They had to be brought back to the fear of the LORD.

Job did not understand his circumstances and way those spoke to him as they did. He did not understand why God would not allow him to die and end his suffering.

Job had to put aside all he had lost and all that the four men falsely accused him of being and focus upon the LORD. (42:6)

·       Deu 10:12-14 Ecc 12:13; Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter regardless of the circumstances no matter how gloomy they are, realize the Lord knows exactly what you are going through and He has a purpose that will be accomplished, even if we never know why.  

What to understand when we don’t understand: life, death and everything in between and after are in the hands of the Almighty God, fear him!.

Today: 1Pet 4:11  .  .  . that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

When we are in a difficult place: We must as Job

·       Look out and see God in His creation

·       Look up and see God in His glory

·       Look down in humility and see ourselves compared to God

·       Look to see God in all circumstances (1Thes 5:18)

·       Know we are in the hands of the Almighty God, fear him for He is with us and He knows exactly what we are experiencing and He is in control.

Romans 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

1Corinthians 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
